COMPUTERS AND TECHNOLOGY

Computers and other technology hardware and software are available to facilitate searching for material, borrowing and returning books, and doing research. Microsoft Word® is used for word processing, PowerPoint® for presentations, and Excel® for spreadsheets, as well as some simpler programs for younger students. All students have opportunities to use computers and technology as tools to enhance learning.

The school is equipped with 2 complete computer labs, one Windows 98 and the other Windows XP, and each classroom from grade 1 up has at least 2 computers available. The school uses an up-to-date high speed network for local and internet communication. Several laser printers are located at points around the school for staff and student convenience. A colour scanner is available for student use. The library is fully computerized, with 3 circulation and 3 search stations to save students time on their visits. The school possesses a digital camera and video camera for teacher and student use.

Technology is used as a tool to enhance learning in most subjects, and a large practice and drill software collection is available for the labs. Teaching staff constantly strive to stay abreast of current technology.
