MISSION Statement of Keheewin School

Keheewin is dedicated to the academic and personal growth of students, building partnerships with parents and professional enhancement to support teaching and learning.  Our primary  focus is improving achievement for all learners in the area of literacy, specifically reading comprehension and writing.  Keheewin’s motto is… “When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece.”

PHILOSOPHY of Keheewin school

Every child is a unique individual and must be treated with respect.  The purpose of education is to produce citizens who strive for personal and academic excellence and who contribute to the well-being and growth of their peers and the community.  Students will be able to problem solve, locate and utilize information, appreciate the arts and physical health and develop positive character values.

Good teaching is expected and teachers are encouraged to continually grow.  They know the curriculum, utilize multiple teaching strategies and resources, listen to and question students, allow individual and group work, integrate technology and hands-on activities and have good relationships with other students, parents and colleagues.  As a professional learning community, teachers collaborate with other professionals within and outside the school to improve their practice.  We strive to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.

We expect and encourage the role and responsibility of parents as participants in their child’s education.  Support of parents is essential.
