    School Philosophy

Every child is a unique individual and must be treated with respect. The purpose of education is to produce citizens who strive for personal and academic excellence and who contribute to the well-being and growth of their peers and the community.  Students will be able to problem solve, locate and utilize information, appreciate the arts and physical health and develop positive character values.

Good teaching is expected and teachers are encouraged to continually grow.  They know the curriculum, utilize multiple teaching strategies and resources, listen to and question students, allow individual and group work, integrate technology and hands-on activities and have good relationships with other students, parents and colleagues.  As a professional learning community, teachers collaborate with other professionals within and outside the school to improve their practice.  We strive to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.

We expect and encourage the role and responsibility of parents as partners in their child’s education. We work together to support students as they learn and grow.

Principal's Message

Welcome back to a new and exciting year of learning. I am very proud to be joining Keheewin School as the new principal. Together with an outstanding and dedicated staff, we look forward to helping students grow in their learning and getting to know our Keheewin families. The last few years at Keheewin have seen exciting changes to curriculum, increased integration of technology as a tool for learning, as well as growth in the number of students attending our school. We remain committed to ongoing improvement in student achievement as we continue to focus on areas such as literacy, numeracy, citizenship and overall health and wellness. Together we will learn and together we will grow!

Keheewin School is a kindergarten to grade six school and a designated district site for Interactions, serving students that have Autism Spectrum Disorder.  We celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of every student at Keheewin, and will utilize our collective strengths to ensure that everyone is supported in reaching their goals.

Keheewin School is fortunate to have an exceptional School Council that works hard to enhance the positive educational and overall experiences for all students. Due to their hard work, our students benefit from enhanced resources. Please consider contacting the school to join this vital group of parents doing great things for your children.

We value the importance of cultivating relationships with everyone in our school community on a daily basis and through special school-wide activities.  Use of a daily agenda will help students take greater responsibility for their learning and establish a daily communication routine between home and school.  SchoolZone is another great way to connect with families online, and keep you informed about school events and initiatives.

Through active engagement from all learning partners at school, our homes, and our extended community, we will strive to create a positive and welcoming culture of learners for the 2017-2018 school year.

Yours in Learning,

Mrs. Beverly Oldford

Principal
