    School Philosophy

Every child is a unique individual and must be treated with respect. The purpose of education is to produce citizens who strive for personal and academic excellence and who contribute to the well-being and growth of their peers and the community.  Students will be able to problem solve, locate and utilize information, appreciate the arts and physical health and develop positive character values.

Good teaching is expected and teachers are encouraged to continually grow.  They know the curriculum, utilize multiple teaching strategies and resources, listen to and question students, allow individual and group work, integrate technology and hands-on activities and have good relationships with other students, parents and colleagues.  As a professional learning community, teachers collaborate with other professionals within and outside the school to improve their practice.  We strive to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.

We expect and encourage the role and responsibility of parents as partners in their child’s education. We work together to support students as they learn and grow.

Principal's Message

Welcome to Keheewin. We are proud to be a school community where staff, students and parents work together to help build the attitudes and skills necessary for students to become active and contributing members of our global society. Academic excellence, leadership skills, creativity, and curiosity are developed through engaging and relevant learning experiences. Staff are committed to continually growing in their professional practices to provide quality teaching and learning for all students. We maintain a safe and healthy learning environment and welcome parents and community members to join us as partners in education.

Keheewin students learn in a caring and collaborative environment. We are fortunate to be a leader in the Interactions programs at Edmonton Public Schools, providing three classes where students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder can grow and learn at their own individual rates. Our school is rich with opportunities for all students to learn, with many different technologies available for teaching and learning. We commit to providing current, innovative and engaging resources and activities that build the multiple literacies students require to be successful in the modern global world.

Staff are continually engaged in professional learning to ensure that students receive instruction based on best practices. Collaboration is encouraged, emphasized, and valued for both staff and students, as we build knowledge and skills together.  Through meaningful connections, all members of our school community are able to cultivate positive relationships and grow as leaders in their own learning. Parents and staff work closely together to ensure that high quality learning resources and activities are available to every student, and that diversity is recognized, supported, and celebrated. Our Parent Council/Society is an active voice in our school, providing valuable support to ensure that Keheewin is a cornerstone of the community.

Our sense of pride as positive and committed global citizens is an integral part of our role as community leaders. Through active engagement from all learning partners at school, our homes, and our extended community, we will strive to create a positive and welcoming culture of life-long learners.

We are KeheeWINNERS. Together We Soar!
